View Full Version : Premier Pro to DVD problem

I have decided to back-up an old Video film (50 mins) to DVD.
I ran it from the VCR into my Sony Mini DV camcorder
and then "captured" it to the pc with Premier Pro.
Just to check it I dragged it to the timeline and it seemed OK.

I have tried both "export to Adobe media encoder" and export to DVD
and from both I have 3 files: 1xwav. 1xm2v and 1xm2vmcses
But Nero will not see these as Video files and as "all files refuses to burn them because they are more
than 2GB.

After reading "Doom9_net - The Definitive DVD Backup Resource.htm" I got hold of a copy of
Canopus ProCoder and ran them thru that; and got MPEG_DVD_PAL(558MB) (the sound file?) and
MPEG_DVD_PAL.m2v (2.13GB)

Nero still refused to see these as video files but it did let me burn them as a UDF.

Unfortunately my DVD player will not play it!

I have now spent many hours on what I thought to be a simple project so now I have to ask for some help.
As I newbie I have read the "stickies" and tried some searches before I have done this post.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think for Nero to work it needs VOB files.. in other words an AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folders for it to burn it as a DVD movie...
Perhaps u can try authoring the converted files using a DVD authoring software..... not much help i know.. but i am not to good with the movie side of things in Nero....although i have had no problems with DVD projects that i have created using Adobe Encore..and Used Nero to burn to disc

If u have Pro Coder 2 - u can instead of making a m2v and m2a files, u can make Vob files directly from the Premiere. After doing so u need to burn the file in Nero using DVD-Video in the options, drag the two folder - Audio_TS, Video_TS to the project and burn. That'll do the job.

If u don't wantPro coder 2 to make the Vob files for u (When pro coder makes the vob files u can't add menus to the DVD) just use the m2v and m2a files with a DVD authoring program like TMPEG DVD author - Great and easy to use program. U can add menus and then compile the DVD so u'll have the Vob file (Audio_TS, Video_TS). Then u can burn them using Nero (like writing above).

Thank you Doogs and some1else for your replies. Meantime I have a trial of TMPGEncDVDAuthor and it does seem very easy to use but when it was 75% thru burning it just failed! So three coasters now as I had gone back to Premier, deleted everthing and started again, same thing failed on the burn!
Am I useing poor media? "Datawrite Yellow" or is this Burner no good? it's NEC ND2500A dual format 8x. I have copied a couple of DVD's before with no probs at all so I know the set-up works!
After the last fail with TMPG I tried "save as ISO and also bought some Maxwell DVD+RW and actually burned the ISO but it will-not play in my player, a friend has "PowerDVD 6" and it did play in that, but with no sound.
Meantime I'll go back to start again and try it with the +RW media.

Right then just to wrap this one up, I have flashed up the firmware on the NEC ND2500A from 1.6 to 1.7 and now every thing works OK!
