heya! i have a sub track in .srt format that i'd like to add to a DVD. my current method will involve reencoding the video stream, and i'd really like to avoid that if possible. if yall have any ideas, i'm all ears :) thanks!

Unless you wish to physically embed the Subs into your video stream, then you needn't reencode the video - all you need do is demultiplex the relevant Title VOB, import the resulting elementary video and audio stream(s) into your authoring program, and add the subtitle track to the Title, then remultiplex to a VIDEO_TS folder.

what is a good authoring program? please dont say scenarist =X are there any authoring tools that will accept .srt subtitle files?

DVDAuthorGUI takes text based subs, including those in SRT format.
