DVDLABPRO gives Out Of Memory error when I click on start button to compile, but I have 1GB of RAM. The temp space is being under reported at 160.0 k though I have 27 GB. How do I fix this?

It may be a problem with Windows Virtual Memory (Swapfile). Try closing down any unnecessary programs before you start the one you want to run.

You may have 27 gig of free FAT32 space, which 4 gig filesize limitation would give you 160k only.
I could be totally wrong, but this has happened before on non-ntfs systems.
Ignore me if this is irrellevant :D

Diggin' up this old thread for advice...

I've got a 9GB project that when I try to compile I get the "out of memory" error.

I'm running DVD Lab Pro 2 v2.3 compiler v 4.00.42
I've got 2GB of RAM and what I think is enough disk space to deal with the project. Out of memory I'd suspect is a RAM thing. No other apps running and I have no idea about what DLP wants for resources to compile.

I've also used the "free memory" feature, but that didn't help any.

Can anyone advise on what resources could be wanted by the application? My mpv & mpa file groups are less than 1GB (contained in one vob file).

My project has one static VGM menu and 9 VTSes each with a single movie. If I delete three of the 9 VTSes I can compile, more and I error out.l

I've also got a side question as to if DLP2 will allow you to author a DVD larger than DVD-9 size for post authoring shrinking or does all shrinking need to be done pre-compile. That's not what's going on here because I've deleted one of my movies that puts it over the DVD-9 size, but still get the memory error.

@Jeff D

Hi!

Are you running low on FREE hard drive space?

@Jeff D

Hi!

Are you running low on FREE hard drive space?

Good question, and I'm not sure how to answer that. The target and temp drives both don't have the red exclaimation marks, the combined free space is larger than what dvdlab says it needs. The temp disk space is only 2-3GB. The target drive has more than 9GB free and the boot drive is running at 2GB+ free. So all over I'd say there's a bunch of free space, but not knowing exactly how DLP uses the space I can't really answer that with a yes.

Do I need 9GB on each the boot, temp and target locations?

All the numbers you've mentioned are EXTREMELY low, to the point of making virtually any DVD-related video work impossible.

Try freeing up space on your drives by emptying the "Recycle bins" (Including the hidden Norton bin, if you've got Norton installed)

Ok, here's my latest project attempt with more free HD space and on a machine with lots of ram (but I'll try increasing that back to 3GB from 2GB)

9 VTSes each with one root (blank) and one movie, one VGM. Pretty basic stuff.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I've asked before in other places, but it appears that exceeding the DVD size isn't an issue in compiling (at least with DVD 5) thinking the same holds true for DVD-9, but not sure.

I'm afraid I have no further insight to offer.

As the registered purchaser/owner of this commercial software, you are certainly entitled to email the authors and or publishers, asking that they resolve this issue. Additionally, you might want to access the "FAQ" at the publisher's website...

Yeah, I originally posted here when the mmbforums site was offline, it's back but I don't think I've had any responses to questions or direct support emails.

I know everyone here usually has good ideas so I thought I'd give it a shot... thanks for the ideas. I'll ping them again about the problem.

Perhaps you'll be good enough to post back here when you've resolved your dilemma?

Yes, please report anything you can think of.

I'm having the same problem myself.

Funny thing is I when I have 12 VTS then i get instant out of memory. I delete the last VTS and it starts compile and does 3 VTS' then aborts. If I delete 6 VTS' then it compiles flawlessly O_o

I have monitored the memory and as soon as it starts compile the memory usage will jump up to 2GB. Then it does the 3 first VTS and aborts. No change in memory usage at all during the process.
