Hi,

After so many retries I was able to finaly convert the 1st DVD but now when I try to play this DVD in my standalone player the DVD start to play and shows me the FBI warning message (DVD TITLE) and then the DVD stops playing and give me DISC ERROR.

I used all the latest versions of the tools avaiablabe for BIG 3 and did everything as per the DIG 3 guide on Doom9. I used the batch update ifo to finally recompile everything.

Any pointers on what could be wrong and how can it be fixed?

Thanks,
-Amit

PS: Oh the DVD does play fine in WinDVD 6 Platinum on my computer It only has issues with standalone player (APEX 1500). This standalone player does play DVD+RW otherwise. Before burning the DISC I thought I will test it using DVD+RW and it the disc failed.

i would attempt playing it back in ifoedit..

if it plays back fine there w/ no errors then it sounds like a problem w/ media or the player

Thanks for looking into my post. The DVD plays fine on computer in any player including IFOEdit.

Its not a media problem because if I burn a regular DVD5 on this DVD+RW then the disc plays fine.

On a side note I removed all the UOPs and as soon as the Title scren came I pressed the MENU button the remote to jump to Root of the menu. From this point onwards the whole disc plays without problems. All the menu combinations work back and forth even selection audio options etc works fine.

So my problem is that the DVD when autoplays plays the TITLE MENU (FBI Warning screen) but then does not jump to ROOT menu. Actually before switching to ROOT menu a small advertisement is played which I did not re-encode as part of DIF4U. I think this is the problem. The Jump from TITLE menu to this advertisement is bad but I don't know how to fix it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

it almost sounds like the sectors aren't correct.... this undemuxed ad isin a title of it's own?

you could do this, either check the tree in pgcedit and see where that jump is made or, modify the firstplaypgc to jump directly to the main menu

If you need help doing that, 2COOL has quite a few guides in the ifoeditor forum on doing that...

Thanks for the tip. I am gonna go and checkout PGCEdit and IFOEdit guides by 2COOL. At this moment I THINK the ad is in its own Title but I'm not sure as I don't know how to check.

I will checkout the IFOEdit forum and the tools and post my reply here after checking these guides/tools just in case I need further help or if I was able to solve the problem.

Thanks for your help.

@D3s7

First of all thanks for introducing me to PgcEdit. Its a great problem with simple interface. It did not take me longer to understand and the trace mode is really helpful.

Now about my problem, I found that for some reason this ad that's giving me hard time is in its own title which is also in its own VTS. All this is good as it makes things very easy. Also this is a 10MB file so I did not re-encode and its the original VOB file.

Now the funny part is no matter what I do I cannot play this VOB on my standalone player. I bypassed this VOB easily using PgcEdit and everything plays properly. Now, if I use my remote to go to this Title I get DISC ERROR.

Any idea why this is happening? The darn thing plays fine on all the PC DVD players like PgcEdit, IFOEdit, WinDVD etc.

Also the VOB plays fine from the Original Disc on the standalone.

Any help to keep the original playing sequence will be appreciated. If all else fails I now know how to bypass this darn thing.

it sounds as if there's a jump command in a vob that is missing.

The jump command is there but for some reason it was giving my standalone a problem. I was using IFOUpdate. But then I switched to BatchIFOUpdate and it fixed the problem.

Thanks for your reply.
