hi guys!
im trying to find the right combo so i can convert to dvd-r to play on my standalone player (panasonic dvd-R recorder & player)
i cant seem to make a dvd that will play. it says "disk incompatible"
im using "memorex dvd-r" my standalone says it will play: DVD-A,DVD-V,Video-CD,Audio CD. ive tried using winavi, xilisoft video encoder. it will play on my other dvd player (XWave) but it plays all formats. im converting avi to dvd. the only other thing that i can think of that might be my problem is ,When i open the dvd i made in "dvd decrypter it shows region 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. and in my panasonic manual it says: discs that cannot be played:
DVD-Video with a region number other than "1" or "All". can anyone help me? thanks

hi and welcome to the forum,
your problem sounds pretty much like a disk compatibility issue to me. please take a look at www.dvdrhelp.com and check the if your specific media is compatible with your standalone.
also for converting avi to dvd i would recommend you take a look at AVI2DVD - which is part of the DVD2SVCD package!
When i open the dvd i made in "dvd decrypter it shows region 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. and in my panasonic manual it says: discs that cannot be played:
DVD-Video with a region number other than "1" or "All".
nope that is not a problem as "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" equals "All" ;)

I use the latest Nero, with DVD Video option from the New Cmopliation menu, only media I now use are Ritek G04 DVD-r (minus r)disks, found these to be compatible with most players (never had an unreadable disk). Most of the time it`s the media that`s the problem.

I have the sample problem. I also own several different dvd standalone players. What i discovered is certain brand of blank dvd + or - will play well and others will not. I do not normally recommend any product over another, and I have not tsted all DVD brands .... yet memorex DVD+ or memorex DVD - bank dvd media seems to work well in most standalon e player with not problems.
