I noticed that in RoBa templates from http://www.geocities.com/syzygydvd/index.htm "DVD Compliant" setting (aka dvd=0/1 in .ecl file) is set to 0.

It also appears that when DVD2SVCD is used in DVD2DVD mode, it doesn't enforce this setting to 1, and neither does RoBa even though they prepare custom .ecl before firing CCE encode.

Is it supposed to be like this? Is dvd=1 setting important all?

Thanks!

Don't check the DVD compliant box.

CCE doesn't make things quite as compliant as one would expect from a checkbox named the way it is(in our situation here anyway!). Remember you are only using CCE to make an elementary stream for a DVD.

Hi,

As ralph correctly says, checking or setting 'DVD Compliant' can/will cause problems. If checked, the maximum bitrate specified in the ecl file will be ignored, meaning that by the time the audio is re-muxed with the video, the result is no longer compliant for a DVD. The average bitrate will be too high in some scenes; giving an authoring error.

Bob
