Hello everyone,
I'm gettting desperate for a solution to a problem I've been unable to solve for several days now. I've created a simple still menu in DVDlab Pro and use text for buttons. The last one I made had a problem though... after I compiled it and opened it up in a software DVD player, the highlighting of the text wasn't working.
I have checked the menu using DVDlab Pro's simulation feature, and the first text link is indeed highlighted, and each text link highlights when the down button is pressed. Everything seems to be in order. Then I save and compile it, open it up, and the highlighting is all gone.
I've managed to narrow down the problem somewhat. Here's what I know:
The text buttons all link properly to the correct episodes. I verified this in the simulation and also after compile in the software DVD player. For example, when the menu is first opened up, if I press down on the dvd controls 4 times and then press enter, the 5th episode properly starts, although it was never highlighted in the menu.
So from what I can see, the text buttons ARE becoming activated, but the menu just isn't displaying the highlights. So I began to think that it was a color issue. I played around with the color settings and kept experimenting. Since the buttons highlight during simulation in DVDlab Pro, something must be happening during compiling.
Then, at about 2:30 in the morning after about a dozen attempts to fix the problem, just as I was about to pass out and smack my head on the desktop, I opened up the latest attempt in powerDVD and saw to my excitement that I had finally done it. The first text button was highlighted, and all the other buttons highlighted when I moved the cursor over them.
The last setting I had changed was the "use NTSC safe colors" option in the compiling dialog box. But my mind was too psychotic from lack of sleep and frustration to clearly remember what I had done. I beleive I had UNchecked this box. So I quickly tried it again, but it didn't work, and every time I have tried since then has resulted in failure and no highlights.
This is obviously a color issue happening during compiling and probably has something to do with the NTSC color safe feature, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. When I open up the "NTSC overheat" tool, none of my colors go outside the boundaries, but then again it doesn't test for the highlight colors.
Anyone who can help me out, please let me know what I'm doing wrong! Thanks in advance.
