Mplayer and playlists

Just a quick question on Mplayer for Windows.....I love it except for one thing.

When it switches between files in a playlist it minimises briefly...this is slightly annoying when watching 2 CD movies.

Is there something I'm doing wrong as it seems a basic thing while Mplayer is advanced in so many other ways....

There is an option "-fixed-vo" which stops that. It's driver dependent, though, so I don't know whether it works with directx.
