hi, first my english is quite rude and i`m not even sure if this goes here o in the agk devel forum so obviously feel free to move me. I have already used the search engine but I dont know very well how to look for that question:
1) is it possible (in autogk) to rip a movie which is on 2 dvd (lotr, das boot, etc) onto one final AVI (or cd-splitted AVIs of course)?
I mean processing both dvds in the same agk job (exactly the same sets, then). I think I know how to do it with GK (edit- in fact no: I know how to join AVIs but they havent been encoded EXACTLY the same way, I guess) but I think that if it`s not possible with AGK it should be, as it is a basic feature that respects the "best quality for newbies" thing that I so much appreciate in the devel of agk.
maybe this is possible in the dvddecrypter process (assuming the video and audio channels, etc are exactly the same, which obviously should be)... i dont know.
Then I got few little questions too (somewhat derived from this one):
2) Shouldnt it be nice if you could choose to split the final avi at any size? I think it would not be a so much interesting option for this newbie oriented tool if AGK was able to rip 2 dvds at same time (as I said above), but assuming this is simply not possible, I think it would be very useful for long movies like Das Boot (5 hrs), which is cut (on my dvds) at 1h30 so the second dvd lenghts 3h30 and ripping separately with no customisable split option is quite non-sense...
3) Why am I getting 697-8 mb with the 1cd preset option? I assume overhead cannot be calculated precisely but then I always tell AGK to do 704-5 mb rips to get a final 702 mb to fit exactly the CD. "1 cd" preset should aim for 702, not 700 or 698.
In the same stuff, concerning soft and sharp matrix, my question is what do I get by default when i tell agk to do 704 rips? You said with >1cd always sharp matrix is chosen but does ths apply to my 704 rip? If so, how to force soft matrix?
4) this one must have been asked before but I couldnt find it:
Will AGK allow to cut the video at the beguining and/or at the end of a movie? I think newbies also should have the choice to remove noisy logos at the beguining (in european movies there are many -without music or sound of the movie itself) or the credits at the end (matrix reloaded credits lenght near 10 minutes... and I think it would save much more MB than "hidden option" does). I once tried (by not "dvddecrypting" first and ending chapters) and i obviously got audio and/or subs sync problems, as you warned in faq/tutorial.
5) does telling dvddecrypter not to split VOBs at 1gb matters for autogk? (assuming other options are set as in the tutorial)
I have made many questions at a time so feel free to take yours (time) to answer, as I will be out for few days. Feel also free to answer a "this was answered at that post" stuff. I have tried not to ask for features which would be out of the goal of agk (I share this idea that this aint be the most complete tool for ripping but the best one for newbies).
thanks.
