I use Tmpgenc DVD Author 1.6 to create the structure of my DVDs and burn them.
The sources are VHS capture files converted by CCE 2.67 to mpeg2 Elementary Stream files with VIDEO (VBR_CQ=40 MAXbitrare=9656) and AUDIO (mpeg1 layer2 mono 192Kbit).
In DVD Author I do not use motion menus, and set only Main menu (no track menus).
So, in the main menu there are only the title of the DVD, the selctable video tracks and the "play all" button. I also choosed the option to open the main menu as first action and when a track has finished playing.
When I put the DVD on my standalone player, the main menu appears correctly, I choose a track ant it plays fine, but at the end it doesn't return to the main menu. Also if, during the play, I choose the Disc menu button on the remote of my player, It doesn't show anything. I have to go into the functions menu of the player, then select "show titles menu" and then it shows me the menu.
Instead, if I choose, in DVD Author, to use both Main Menu and Track menu, after the track is played it shows me the track menu with the chapters, and also if i press the "disc menu" button on my remote it shows me the track menu and not the main menu.
But I don't want the track menu, I don't use chapters!
The DVD/DivX standalone player is a brand new Samsung P244.
I burn with both a Pioneer 106 or a LG 4040B at 4x speed to "Verbatim 8x" support.
