Is there any tool that can edit prohibited user operations in vob files?

they are in VOBs also! each navpack has PUO section (open vob in vobedit and look for byte 0x0035 of navpack)
but editing this manualy would take too much time so i'm looking for something that could do that a bit faster :)

When you rip with DVD Decrypter, just tick the setting to remove PUOs in VOBs

I know we can remove the PUOS VOBs but there is still no software ATM that can have us setting them.

@2cool and miro
Aaah yes, I get it now. Maybe I should read the posts a little bit closer :)

BTW: Another very cool addition to your sig 2C

@Dimad
Tried DvdReMake demo, and it did't parsed POUs corectly. First NAV pack of last cell in the movie has PUO set to 0, but rest of them have 128, and DvdRemake shows no PUOs, like the first nav pack, maybe you should check all nav packs for each vob/cell id?
@2cool
no software to do it? :( well at least not a free one...
i'm going to try making *very* simple app to do that over weekend...
wish me luck :)

wish me luck :) Good luck! I tried looking for a reference on VOB PUOs values. Now we are on the same page? I'm talking about starting from setting zero valued VOBs PUOs to whatever. I'm not talking about removing them. Anyone can come up with this specialized removal tool. Now "setting" VOB PUOs would be a "claim-to-fame" for anyone who wants to step up for the challenge.
You can see the IFO PUOs values in PgcEdit. I always wondered what the VOB PUOs values are. ;)

The values for PUOps are the same no matter where they occur. A slight exception are the 2 lonely bits in TT_SRPT, but they are still in the same bit positions. All the values (TT_SRPT, PGC, and VOBU) get bitwise ORed together.

BTW, how's the progress doing with you-know-what?

It (http://www.mpucoder.com/Muxman) is finally ready to take a beating, but, since it is an authoring program, it should be discussed in that forum.

True, so I cannot see any practical reason to edit the values inside the VOB (unless you are going to add some PUOPs to one/some single cell/s in a PGC).
But I really dislike PUOPs, so removing PUOPs inside the VOB is the only thing I want to have.

Yes, I think most people want to remove them, and if you want to do that, you have to remove them in the VOB (if there are any) as well...
But I'm puzzled: IFOEdit has "remove PUOs" in VOB tools. Does that not work?

I have my options checked to remove my IFO and VOB PUOs checked DVD Decrypter's File Mode setting. It's not on by default though. If you always want to remove them, just set it and forget it. ;)

Yes, that's good practice.

The "problem" is that removing PUOPs in VOB is very time consuming, because you have to search and rewrite all the nav packs. The best practice is to do it when ripping (as 2COOL says) or when you are rewriting the VOB for other reasons. (i.e. using VobBlanker :) )

Well, if it works in IFOEdit, then why did M!ro have to write his own app to do it?

Jeanl He/She wanted to edit the VOB PUOs additions or removal. IfoEdit doesn't do this. ;)

2COOL, he did it! You don't remember... He wrote his app in no time, and posted in another thread...
Thanks for the clarification though, I didn't realize he wanted to edit, not just remove...

I didn't realize he wanted to edit, not just remove... In any case, this has no sense unless Miro allows to edit/remove in a cell basis mode. If M!ro is going to do a edit/remove of the whole VOB or even at PGC level, IMHO, it is better to completely remove in the VOB and modify in the IFO.
jsoto
EDIT: M!ro (instead of Miro).

you're absolutely right... Darn, I think he's working on a UI for his app! (see this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86318))

Note that there is ONE PUO theorically not available in the IFOs: GoUp (bit 4) may be set only in VOBs.
I can't understand why there is such a limitation, and I'm pretty sure most players will prohibit the GoUp operation when the flag is set in the IFO and not in the VOB, but it's illegal! Another verry strange decision of the "'experts'" who did the DVD specs!
