View Full Version : Session Timeout

Is the session timeout set to a very short value for the forums. I've been kicked in the backside a number of times when posting. I get finished composing a post/reply click submit and get taken to the login page. What is the worst part is that after logging back in everything composed is lost as it brings me back to the root page!

It's not so much a problem now as I've learned to compose in a word editor then cut-n-paste just after logging in but, every once in a while I either forget or think to myself, well, it's only a short one, I'll have enough time...inevitably getting burned again. :-(

Just Curious,
Tio

What browser are you using, and what are your cookie settings?

I ask because with IE, with Mozilla, and with Firefox ... logging in once is logging in forever, and I've never had a timeout. Cookies are enabled, of course.

The same happens to me, and it's not browser related. I can login automatically to whatever board I like of course, but not here. It's because of the settings I chose in the "Edit Options" section of the User Control Panel. If you set "Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)" to "no", you'll get the same behaviour described by Tio. That can be edited of course, personally I just like it this way.

Sorry for such a delay in replying...had to disappear for a while. ;-)

I use Firefox, cookies enabled, no auto log-in. I've always figured the auto log-in being disabled would not be a factor.
