Hi folks,

it's been a while since I did my last encode and actually never used AutoGK before, so please bear with me if this one is too simple :)
The question is that I have Rimax standalone DVD player which claims to be able to display on my TV subtitles of the SRT type. I was happy to read that AutoGK 1.80beta is able to encode external subtitles in this format but... how is this done? I mean, what do I have to do to encode subtitles in SRT with AutoGK such that they display properly? Please notice that I don't want permanent subtitles, but something I can activate or desactivate instead (as in regular DVDs).
Actually when I press Ctrl+F8 a popup shows asking for the external subtitles file, so does this mean I must rip the subs BEFORE running AutoGK? And if so, what is the best way/program to get the subs?

best regards,

Ferran.

Advanced settings - External Subtitles

From the tutorial: If you want burnt in subtitles, then choose your subtitle track. The default setting is for burnt in or subtitles embedded into the video. If you would prefer to have external subs, then check that box in Advanced Settings.

You misunderstood the feature - AutoGK will never be able to produce _output_ text subtitles (because they have to be OCR-ed). If you have text subs then you don't need to process them in AutoGK at all to be able to play on your standalone. The feature that 1.80 has is to be able to burn them in to output video (i.e. put them permanently into AVI so that you can't switch them off).

P.S. for producing text subs have a look at the program called SubRip.

Uhh... then do I have to understand that there is no way to put SRT subtitles that I can turn on and off in BSPlayer, for exemple?
In case there is a way, what do I have to tick in AutoGK 1.80beta to get these subs turnable on and off?

thanks in advance,

Ferran.

if you have srt subtitles you don't have to do anything in AutoGK - just encode the video! All players and quite a few standalones are supporting external subs in SRT format anyway - they are not required for AutoGK.
