hey there. i have some vob files on my hard drive named VTS_01_1.VOB -> VTS_01_5.VOB. .. . it totals around 4 gigabytes. I wish to make this into a playable DVD. is there a way? how?

if the source was ripped properly there should be this structure:
VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP
\VIDEO_TS.IFO
\VIDEO_TS.VOB
\VTS_01_0.BUP
\VTS_01_0.IFO
\VTS_01_0.VOB
\VTS_01_1.VOB
\VTS_02_0.BUP
\etc
\etc
you need more than just .vob files - idx files have important info in them, and i have no idea what bup files do.
but basically, if you can play the disc off the hard disk by selecting "video_ts.ifo" in a DVD player app like PowerDVD, then you'll be able to simply burn these files in to a folder called VIDEO_TS in an ordinary burning program.
but, so as not to waste a disc, try this on a RW disc or something, and don't blame me if it doesn't work, because i don't know exactly what files you have and weather they're valid or not.
bottom line: a straight DVD-rip will can be burnt how it is (as long as it fits on your media :))

If you look on the website www.coujo.de, you can find a tool called imagetool classic, which can make the files into an ISO, which in turn can be burned by DVD Decrypter (all freeware). You need to create an VIDEO_TS folder and drag all the files into it, and then create an AUDIO_TS and leave this on empty, and put it in the same directory as the VIDEO_TS folder. Then you use Imagetool and pick the VIDEO_TS folder (or maybe the above directory, I'm not too sure). If you don't have all the files required to make a DVD compliant ISO, then you'll have an error.

If you have VOB files only, you can use IFOEdit's Create IFOs feature to make a fully compliant DVD-Video structure.
BTW IFOEdit 0.97 is out. ;)

and i have no idea what bup files do. hi mr funky,
.bup files are back-up copies of your .ifo files. iirc it is in case you get a corrupt .ifo (not even sure how this could happen) the dvd player will then use the .bup file for navigation etc.
cheers
