Jdobbs,

First let me extend my gratitude to you and the amazing software you made. And now let me get to the point. This is an error message that I got in the Rebuild step of the movie The Terminal. I can provide you with more information if needed.

I got the same error in my last attempt.

Using

DVD-RB .66
AviSynth 2.55
DGDecode
CCE SP 2.67
DVD Shrink (remove unecessary audio)
DVD Remake (remove trailers and other video extras)

Not sure about this error from anyone else from what I have searched...

@ djuby

did you preprocess your data in any way?
i.e. did you use any other tool AFTER ripping the data an BEFORE using rebuilder?

@ jwu42

it has been pointed out numerous times that preprocessed data might lead to errors

btw: removing audio streams via shrink doesn't really make sense, because you could as well select wanted/deselect unwanted audio streams within rebuilder

maybe you might skip the shrink part and try vobblanker instead of dvdremake or stay away from preprocessing just for testing purposes?

DK,

I have learned all about what not to do with DVD-RB. The main culprit must be DVD-Remake. I am using that to remove extras to just leave the movie and 5.1 sound along with the menu. Results in AVG bitrate going from ~2300 to ~3600.

I guess I need to look into vobblanker

I use DVDRemake to preprocess all of my backups and have not seen this error yet!

Have you tried to back up the movie without any preprocessing? I've done the NTSC version of this movie without a problem.

I sorta hi-jacked this thread - my apologies. I am doing The Matrix R1...

My comments were more about the error message since this thread was one of the only I found with reference to it...

Trying VOB Blanker now...

I just recently got this error message when I was backing up some dbgt dvd's of mine. I was using Procoder but what fixed it for me was totally reripping the movie with detect mastering errors setting on in dvd decrypter. I use dvd remake on pretty much every movie i have ever done with DVD RB and have had very few problems. None that I couldnt get around eventually.

Just my understanding:

You can use DVD Remake (or other tool) to pre-process before Rebuilder, and most of the times there will not be any problem.

But sometimes, with a certain DVD, you can find a problem.

So, before posting, try RB on the source without any pre-processing.

If the error persist, you will know it was not related to the pre-processing step, and you can post here to try finding a solution. Allway test in an un-processed source to minimize variables.

But if the error is gone, you will know that it was due to change introduced during the pre-processing step. For this case you can try post-processing: Run first through RB and afterwards through Remake. In order not to loss the bitrate you would got witht he pre-processing, you can oversize the output of RB (by means of the TargetSectors setting or through RBOpt), so that after the post-processing it gets within the DVD5 limit.

Well said!

I have found rebuilder crashes on remake's "blank" cells with cce 2.67

cce 2.5 works perfectly

@DK,

I haven't done any pre processing to the movie after ripping it with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and mounting it with DAEMON Tools. But I am happy to report that with DVD-RB 0.68 the problem is gone. I don't know if JDobbs did something but it's fine now. I could be an isolated incident. I'll keep an eye and report if it happens again.
