I have been reading a lot of your posts that deal with changing how a dvd navigates once inserted. The last one I used was for Shrek 2. I chose to use this tweak of yours:

Bypassing Trailers only

Click on VTST 2 , 1 TTN 1 (0:26) Title 2 and edit

OLD:

Two questions, how did you know that you had to change the value in VTST 2,1 TTN 1 Title 2 and how did you know to change the (mov) from 33 to 255? I would really like to learn how to be able to manipulate dvd navigation as you do. Thanks.

It all comes down to experience and having some knowledge of the DVD structure. First of all, in my R1 version, there's 83 Titles. For you to jump from one Title to another, there MUST be a jump in your Video manager domain (VIDEO_TS.IFO). Usually, it's done through a dummy PGC. I found in our VMGM 19 that GPRM 9's played a deciding part on what Title should play.

how did you know that you had to change the value in VTST 2,1 TTN 1 Title 2Since I knew now that I had to find a command with setting GPRM 9, I looked in the commands of VTST 2 Title 2. Title 2 was our company logo splash. I saw that Pre command #3 was my culprit.

Note: The titles played in order from DVD insert to main menu was...Title 2 > Title 5 > Main menu.

how did you know to change the (mov) from 33 to 255?Since Title 5 was before our main menu, I was looking to see what GRPM 9's setting was prior to the Main menu. So, I found a GPRM 9 setting command in Pre Command #3 of VTST #4 Title 5.

VTST 4 , 1 TTN 1 (3:46) Title 5 - Chapters: 3, Programs: 3, Cells: 3

Since 255 was what I needed to jump to the main menu, I then edited out VTST 2's Pre command #3 to 255.

Before this site came up, I basically read the forums, bought 2 books (DVD Demystified and Ralph LaBarge's DVD Authoring & Production), and trial and errored alot. I also googled alot on the DVD Structure.

Basically, the DVD is like a computer program. It has GPRMs and SPRMs used for constants and variables. It also has "if-then" comands. So, if you have some sort of computer programming background, it'll be easier for you to understand.

With PgcEdit's trace function, you can now see and understand how the flow of command navigations work. ;)
