View Full Version : Is there a trick to get CCE SP 2.70 trial to work in DVD RB?

Hello,

I have been using the CCE SP 2.50 trial version with eclcce and I wanted to try the 2.70 trial version. I read in another post that 2.70 trial has ecl already in it so I assumed it would work with DVD RB without the need of eclcce but it does not.

Is there a trick to get it to work? Or is it that even though it already has ecl it is still going to need a updated eclcce version to make it work?

Thanks

I dont believe that DVDRB works with that version of CCE SP. The newest one it works on is 2.67.00.27 or something like that I think.

OK, I will just keep using 2.50 trial,it works well and my trial period is going to end soon anyway.

Are there plans to support 2.70.xx? Apparantly there are some nice new features including fades to black not being so blocky on static scenes, advanced quality settings that were previously locked in trials, BFF streams and ECL support is back.

I would like to try too. Maybe DVDRebuilder will have this option in the next version.

I don't have version 2.70, but I'll be happy to add it if someone will compare the .ECL files of 2.70 SP and 2.67.00.27 and document the differences -- especially the values used in "video_type=?"

jdobbs,

If you know the structure of .ecl of 2.67, I can send you .ecl of 2.70 some time tomorrow. Tell me how to generate an .ecl using DVDRB, in the Prepare phase?

I think I posted an ECL a few days after 2.7 first came out. IIRC, Video_Type is gone entirely. Hold on while I look up the post.

Oh, and at the time the trial version didn't have any .ecl save/load or advanced funtion restrictions . Unless they have 'fixed' it since then.

EDIT: Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=556913#post556913) it is.

Cool. My memory seems to be going  Does anyone know how the header changes for the retail version?

I agree with wmansir, I checked Cinema Craft Encoder SP Trial Version 2.70.01.03, in the ecl, I could not find video_type. I don't know what the header is.

I downloaded the trial today. There are several other new parameters in the .ECL file. I'll have to check and see what they are and what impact they have.

How about CCE SP 2.70.x RETAIL instead of trial? Does that work with DVD-RB 2.66a (latest public release)?

No. But I'm working on it.

Can anyone tell me how the header of the .ECL changes with CCE 2.70 retail (as opposed to the trial version)?

Here is the trial header:

; CCE SP Trial Version -- Encoder Control List

Normally it will have to match exactly in order to work.

Let's face it.

How many people would afford to a commercial quality CCE SP simply because they want to backup their legitimate DVDs?

Correct me if I were wrong. The retail price is US$2000+. [mod edit] Is it worth jdobbs' time developing dvd-rb to support the above mentioned version?

@p200002, first we are up to CCE SP 2.70.01.04 and some of us might be in environments where legal RETAIL versions of CCE do actually exist. Second, while I know I do not have 2.70 available to me now, we might be purchasing it soon, and I would like to be able to use it if/when the time comes. If someone has the retail and jdobbs is willing to provide us why can we not ask?
