I've been captureing with passthrough with my Sony DCRPC101 DV cam and converting to DVD.
I've noticed that when I capture this way(DV cam), my reds are more of a lighter, duller red instead of a nice bright intense red like seen in the VHS source and direct MPEG2 captures(with video card).

At first I thought it was my black levels 0-255 and 16-235, but realized that even when black levels are correct, my reds are just not as bright and intense.:(

I run the same filtering and encoding on both captures, that's how I narrowed it down to captures from the DVcam using passthrough. Even tried with no filtering and direct into encoder, but still duller reds.

Is this due to the NTSC 4:1:1 colorspace and nothing I can do about it?
Has anybody else noticed this?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Like Avisynth script that could enhance my colors.:(

I'd rather not have to capture with the capture card, the DV passthrough just makes it so easy.
