I know it sounds bad to use crappy mpeg1 as source but I have no other option my friend got some vcds made of old vhs cassettes he recorded, the original cassettes no longer available.Since I dont think VCD's are that good, turning them into Real Media wont make it much better, but to save some space I have only this option since I dont trust other codecs quality at small sized files. (I aim to have 60 mins in 350 mb files)

The problem is I cant open mpeg1 files in any of the known GUI's.I tried the original producer.exe than I learned it cant use mpeg1 as a source,it must be an avi (or mpeg2 ???)I first convert the dat files to mpeg using vcdgear than try to open files but no luck.

Now is there a way to use them as a source in any real media GUI's ?

Thanks for reading.
