Ok I have 2 files of 2 different episodes. The problem is that why my dvd authoing program (DVD builder my Roxio) can burn one file, it cannot burn the other. THis is werid since both avi's are viewable in windows. When I mouse over each file I see this:
http://www.angelfire.com/clone/wolfbane/bitrate.jpg
(please cut and paste into the url field)
Notice that one of them registers that it has a bit rate while the other (the one that does not play) does not. What is the cause of this and how can I encode the file so as to be able to put it onto a DVD?

This isn't an answer, but is that tooltip generated by Roxio? That's hysterical. I guess they think it's totally obvious that "808802372" is "DX50" and "5063489" is "AC3":
808802372 decimal
= 0x30355844 (above as a 32-bit hex #) =
= 0x44 0x58 0x35 0x30 (bytes representing above in Intel byte order)
= "DX50" as ASCII
5063489 decimal
= 0x004d4341 (above as a 32-bit hex #) =
= 0x41 0x43 0x4d 0x00 (bytes representing above in Intel byte order)
= "AC3" as ASCII

Yes it is a Roxio screen. Can gspot fix the problem, allowing me to finally burn the files?

nope gspot is an information appliance - it gives you a lot of details about the avi files you have at hand - based on which we can then try to find a way to convert them...

ok here is the result of the file
(cut and paste please )

the render status

It obviously has bit rate and is a valid avi file, the question remains, how do I get Roxio's DVD Builder to recognize that?

took you a while to do the screenshots ;)
anyway, i'd recommend doing a simple direct stream copy with virtualdub and see if that works...
