View Full Version : DVD menu---Maestro limitation?

Maestro manual states that:

"The maximum no. of button highlights for a 4:3 aspect menu is 25. For 16:9 Letterbox and 16:9 Pan-scan aspects, you are limited to 18. For the 16:9 LB/PS setting (supporting both Letterbox and Pan-scan), you are limited to 12 button highlights.

Then how is it possible that in many commercial DVD's I see 30-35 button highlights? Is it a maestro limitation or DVD-spec limitation?

Kindly reply as I am stuck with a menu having 29 button highlights.
I am re-building GARETH GATES music video DVD R2 (PAL)

P.S.
I checked with DVDRemake and it SUPPORTS more than 25 buttons in a menu.

Not sure about Maestro, but Scenarist allows you to have 18 buttons for a 16:9 project and 36 buttons on a 4:3 project. Thus solving your problem.

Now, onto more important matters... why, oh why are you "re-building GARETH GATES music video"?????????

Thanks for the reply.

I am making a collection video. It contains all of Gareth gates plus some other videos. So I hav to author it. Scenarist is way above me for this type of job. On the other hand, Maestro is the easiest professional program out there.

Now I've created other menu's in Photoshop but since I was retaining GG as whole I thought it better to retain its actual menu.

Any suggestions?? Is it possible to just have 25 highlights on the menu with Maestro and after authoring, create the addl. buttons in DVDRemake/ifoedit etc.?

Maestro is the easiest professional program out there.
But also very limiting! I haven't tried it, but I think you can add the extra buttons in something like DVDRemake/ifoedit. Have a look on the IFO/VOB Editors page.

exactly my idea. :)

Maybe you can use dvdlab pro, which is also a very easy program with more than enough possibilities.

Yep many Maestro users don't find out about this (Maestro not spec) limit till the are trying to author the project!

While it's mac, dvdsp is samey! but if not you'll need another app or a redesign,
