View Full Version : Used DVDShrink successfully - when do I need DVDDecrypter?

I downloaded both DVDShrink and DVDDycrpter. I successfully copied a DVD using DVD shrink including reauthoring it to 90% compression.

My question is, when do I use DVDDycrpter? When the analysis section of DVDShrink says the DVD is encrypted? (My test DVD was not encrypted).

If so, what's the best method to save the file as using DVDDycrpter if I am going to re-author the files in DVDShrink afterwards.

Thanks.

(Yes, I read all the help files - I must be a little slow - thanks!).

Hi,

DVD Shrink can also rip encrypted DVDs, so you wouldn't need DVD Decrypter for this.
I always use DVD Decrypter to rip, though, coz I like to have all the files on hard drive first, but that's just me, so it's up to you if you use DVD Decrypter to rip first, or just use DVD Shrink from the beginning.

DVD Decrypter also has other options, like ripping a DVD and creating an ISO file, and also burning that ISO file back to a DVD, or ripping only certain streams, no matter how many streams are in one VOB file and if it spans over more VOBs. These features are nice, but you won't need them if you want to rip a DVD to shrink it then with DVD Shrink.

But DVD Decrypter can also burn a DVD. DVD Shrink does not, but can use DVD Decrypter to burn. That way DVD Shrink will automatically launch DVD Decrypter to burn, if you installed DVD Decrypter and set it up in DVD Shrink, that is.

I find the best method to have a flawless DVD with little hardship

DVD decriptor in file more. Dump all files to your HD first.

The Shrink it using the shrink nero integration to durn the movie.
