Best picture for standalones

I read many topics about hardware players and modded firmwares, but my simple question is: are there any player out, which is fully compatible with custom made anamorphic, non-resized/non-cropped Xvid movies?

I am just trying to decide wheter I choose Xvid Q2 anamorphic, or Xvid Q2 resized, or DVD-Rebuilder+CCE SP for maximum 1 DVD-R sized encodes.

Some of the more recent players fitted with MediaTek (MK) chip-set's should be okay... Some of these even have firmware capable of detecting PAR and DAR signalling.
