ok, ive been wanting to get into video encoding for a few differant reasons. i have been searching for forums like this for a while. but, the problem i keep running into is that a majority of these sites are pc related, and have only pc programs available. i am an avid mac user (and will not trade so dont tell me to get a computer) and would like to find a place where i can get info on mac video encoding, as well as mac downloads.

yes i have searched, and no, i didnt find anything. it doesnt help that my schools filter blocks just about anything.

thanks again for any help.

Hi & welcome to the board,

not being a Mac user myself, I am probably of little help, but still ... a search of this very board turned up e.g. this http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81932&highlight=macintosh and this http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68893&highlight=macintosh thread which contain a few links & pointers ...

try versiontracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18599&mode=feedback)
in general, I have found that there are much fewer tools for DVD backup and conversion for Mac OS than there are for PCs. It's rather frustrating. I have a Mac myself and expected better from it.

I'm not a Mac user but ffmpegX (http://homepage.mac.com/major4/video.html) makes use of top-notch codecs and looks really very clean and nice.
