Hi. Have a problem with my reauthored DVD movies. Got some cool AVI jazzvideos that i've transformed and processed in AviSynth 2.5 with real good result but at the end of the movies, eg. lets say with 5-15 minutes left, it hangs, sometimes it freezes completely, sometimes it hangs for a shorter period and moves on to another frame. There are no chapters or anything and it doesn't matter if it's a PAL or NTSC standard. I'm using DVDMaestro to author my movies. What i'm i doing wrong? Have WinXP/1GB RAM/80GB S-ATA HDD/Graphcard with a good NVIDIA-chip on it. Using: VirtualDub/AviSynth Script/DVDMaestro.
Thx.:)

not all media are of really good quality on the outer ring (understatement). SO it could be this is some crappy media and you have to make the disc a bit smaller.
Try some other (good quality) media and see if the problem persists.

Okidoki. Did try a Fuji DVD+RW disc (just to be able to erase a bad DVD compilation) And the same hang occured:confused: ..Darn. Got a pretty good burner : NEC ND_1300A and the RW's burning in 2,4x only which seem to be a gentle speed. This is a riddle..

funnily enough I came on to post the same issue
Ive tried it with 2 different media types and 2 different dvd players
Ive used DVD shrink to back em up and they play fine from my hdd so its my writer ( :( ) or possibly software 'copy2dvd'
Anyone solved this ?

Influenza summed this up pretty well: Almost all of the problems we see of this nature are caused by inferior media. Using the links below, you can check media compatibility for both your burner and set top player.
Player/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers)
Burner/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters)
Here's some generic advice aimed at both Jonboy and storbror.
Rewritable media is finicky. I have a TDK burner that has no problem at all with Fuji RW'able media, but one of my old players, an Apex AD-1100W refuses to recognize and play this brand. My solution? Find another brand of RW'able media the Apex will "see", or play that particular test disc on another player. :)
Note at exactly which point in your file that it hangs when played on a standalone, then open it up in a software player on your PC and make sure your file isn't corrupted at that same exact frame. If you're absolutely certain your file is valid, the only alternatives are to look at your media or your burning software. 99% of the time, your media is going to be the culprit.
Jonboy--There's all kinds of burning software you can use, I've been a Nero user for some time now, and have never had a burn failure. They offer demo dl's of Nero 6, IIRC, so you might take a look at this alternative. DVDDecrypter is another option and is available at a very good price. It's free....
Oh, I almost forgot, welcome to the forum, Jonboy2005!

Think i found My problem! It seems to be my authoring software, "DVDMaestro" that cause the hang. Tried "DVDLab" and burned to a Fuji+RW
and ended up with perfect copy:=)) At least this worked with my NEC ND1300A burner.
