I have used InstantCopy 7 since it was released a long time ago. I most say I have been satisfied with the program most times. I have also used DVD shrink and DVD2DVDr, but IC have been my choice for most backups. Because IC7 have given me good results I have not realy botherd to look for new programs.

However time moves forward and I now consider to move on to InstantCopy 8. I'm not very up to date on InstantCopy 8. If I'm going to change/update to this program, it most give me something better than IC7 did, but I figured Pinnacle most have developed InstantCopy over the past year, right? I don't care about new fast mode and so on, quality is what I consider most importent!

So I would be glad if some IC users can post their opinions on IC8 and if it beat the old IC7. How about quality compared between those two?

I've given IC8 and all of its updates many chances, but I've found IC7 with its last update to be far more reliable than any version of IC8. Here are my opinions...

1. Both have similar quality; I've never seen any real differences

2. IC7 is far more reliable; It's rare that there are any very pixelated blocks or stutters in the output. I cannot say the same for IC8 where I usually can find flaws in every output.

3. They both can't size DVDs for the life of them. At least there's a good registry hack for IC7; I've you to find one that works on the latest release of IC8 so it was a manual hack. With the hacks, you can oversize both programs. I'm more adept at IC7 since I use it more often.

4. Since IC8 is newer, it recognizes more of the newer burners. IC7 doesn't recognize either of my two burners as such, so I'm relegated to "Write To Disc" and then using DVD Decrypter to write my PDI file to DVD.

Bottom line is that I find both programs equal in quality, but I get better results with IC7 so I'm continuing to use it.

My $0.02...

Well I gave IC8 a try. I installed latest version and tried the movie Troy. First copy came out4.11gb, so I thougth if I oversize it with 0.2gb it would be fine. Strange thing is that it again gave me a filesize at 4.11gb.

Have never had problem with IC7, allways gives me 4.20-4.36gb files. So if no one claim or can prof IC8 produce better quality then IC7 I can as well go back to IC7 and throw IC8 away. To bad I didn't wait for quality opinions before I tested it,,,,,,
