Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I added some subtitles to a movie using TheMatrix's old guide (MaestroSBT->DVDMaestro->IFOUpdate). Actually, I also did not remux the old subs (Japanese and Chinese subs). I was hoping that IFOUpdate would take care of cleaning that up too.
As per the guide, I simply "updated" the original VTS_01_0.IFO. I also tried using "Get VTS Sectors" on the VIDEO_TS.IFO as well first with IFOUpdate and then (when that didn't fix the problem) with IFOEdit.
The Nero burned DVD plays fine with PowerDVD so I thought all was well. But my standalone player (a Pioneer DV-333) does not make it to the main menu. It freezes after the intro VOB finishes.
Nero gives a warning before burning saying "reallocation failed". It did not specify a reason though, like a missing or bad file or anything. But it definitely seems to think something is wrong with the DVD structure. I don't have any 0 byte files or anything.
I tried using the TRACE option in PGCEdit. Everything seemed to work fine. I stepped through the DVD structure many times trying to figure out what was going wrong, but I just could not find anything fishy.
My current plan is to try to leave in all the subtitle streams and then to try to use TheMatrix's new guide with DVDLab. I suspect the results would be the same though since he still relies on IFOUpdate to change the original IFOs to match the remuxed VOBs. I will also try to burn an image (from IFOEdit?) instead of relying on Nero to create one for me. Also, I am thinking about trying the "create IFO" option in IFOEdit. Will this still let me use the original menu?
I think the problem lies somewhere in the IFOUpdate step. I think some pointer is not pointing to the right sector, presumably the one that points to the address of the root menu. Although why it seems to work in PowerDVD (and Matrox DVD but without button highlighting in the menu) I don't know.
If anyone knows how to manually correct this pointer or has any suggestions on other things to try or can explain anything about this DVD's structure, I would greatly, greatly, appreciate it.
