Why are there so many of these problems with DVD home recorders (not PC) apart from the region codes.
E.G.DVD-R burned on a domestic recorder will not play on a multiregion player.
Yet a similar disc burned on a PC burner plays fine!!!!

Do you mean a disc recorded on a dvd recorder not playing on a standard dvd player? If so that`s often because the disc needs to be finalised in the dvd recorder before other dvd players will properly read it.
My recorder is like that, although it does display and play on my pc without finalising.
If you mean that certain types of discs won`t play, I think it has to do with the quality and manufacturing although I`ve not had this problem myself I know some people can`t play some brands of disc.

Yes m8 disc has been finalised ,it appears there is a difference in the burning technique between home recorders and Pc burners even on the same type and brand of disc.
Any info on this techie point appreciated.

I don't have a set-top DVD recorder so I'm guessing here.
It may be UDF packet writing that these things use.
Try installing some UDF packet writing (or at least reading) software and see if that helps.
