Accessing chapters from disc2 after movie split

Hi,

I noticed something odd after I split a movie to 2 DVD's.
Everything works fine when I selected the chapter from the menu, but if I start viewing the movie and then try to switch to the 5th chapter, it goes to the first one. If I fast forward to the 5th chapter, everything is ok.

The movie has 29 chapters and the first 20 are on disc 1 and the remaining 9 are on disc 2.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this the correct behaviour ?

I also had another solution. It's not that bad when you get proficient. I used PgcEdit.

1. Create a New Cell Command in your Title 1's Command Table. Go to the last Cell command, left-click to select, and right-click on same line.

If no Cell commands exist, just do the same on ********** cell commands:.

2. You will get a new NOP command but we need to change it to this. Your new template command will be

OLD:

********** cell commands:
[00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00] # NOP

NEW:

********** cell commands:
[20 05 00 00 00 00 00 ??] # LinkPTT Chapter ??

3. Double click on this NOP command to get your Command Editor
_________________________________________________
4. Go to Alphabetically > LinkPTT
_________________________________________________
5. Change your "Jump to Chapter (PTT)" value with your actual starting chapter. OK to set and exit Command Editor.

So if I had chapters 21 to 29 on disc 2, my new Cell command should've been

[20 05 00 00 00 00 00 15] 1 LinkPTT Chapter 21

6. Double click on your Title in PGC Selection list to bring up your PGC Editor

7. We will only work with the chapters pertaining to disc 1. From chapters 1 to #, insert into each "cell cmd" field in bottom half of window with the new cell command number you got in step 1.

After I tried what you told me, it doesn't work. Maybe I was misunderstood.
After spliting the movie with Ifoedit 0.96, I've edited the menus and removed the buttons, so I couldn't select the chapters from disc 1. The only problem that I have, happens when I try to go directly to chapter 3, which was chapter 23, using the keypad on the dvd remote. It always go to chapter 1. If I press twice the >>| button, everything works fine.

Load up your disc files in PgcEdit. Select your Title in PGC Selector. Go up to Info > PGC. Do a PGC info dump. In dump window, right click to copy and paste what you have in your reply post.

Honestly, I haven't done a IfoEdit split for ages. IMHO, it's sort of passe. As for freeware, VobBlanker can be used for splitting by blanking out, say half of main movie for disc 1 and then the other half for disc 2. You can also blank out selected extras. The thing of IfoEdit splitting, it's fine when you have just a movie-only backup. When you have menu buttons pointing to different scenes, all hell breaks loose! I'll try to get back into doing one. Where's Josh when you need him? Split Master! Where are you?!

speaking of which, that would be a great addition to vobblanker! Mark the "middle" of the split, somehow (not sure how), push a button, done!
Jsoto, I wonder if that would be hard to implement (probably hard from the UI/user interaction point of view).

When I want to split a movie without menus or extras, I use DVDShrink.
