First, try to upgrade Nero to latest edition. Very early verions of Nero 6.0.0 had some problems. The latest version is 6.6.0.1. Get upgrade from the Nero site for free.

Good luck

Well, it narrows things down a little... by trying several types of media -- only to have the same problem -- it eliminates the possibility of bad media causing trouble. Very interesting...

Assuming that your projects played fine before updating your firmware (according to the Sony website, 1.1A is indeed the latest supported version), you might try running the drivechecker utility found on Sony's support page:

http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru510adwn.htm

Of course, I still recommend updating your Nero (if you're on dial-up, the updates will take forever to download... but they're worth having) just in case Nero updated their drive support for the new firmware. Since 'Shrink uses Nero as its burning engine, you can bypass this by instead using Shrink to create a disk image on your hard drive, and burning that image with DVD Decrypter. If it burns (and plays back) fine this way, then you'll know that Nero's connected. If it doesn't burn... well, you get the picture.

Just reply to this thread to let us know how it's all turned out; no need to create a new thread when posting -- we'll just have to chase you around a bit more otherwise. ;)

Hope this gives you something to go on!
