View Full Version : 4:3 --> 16:9 & Fill Disc

I have a few discs which are 4:3 DVD5s w/ extras that I wanted to backup to 16:9. After stripping away the extras and removing unwanted audio the remaining files total about 3.3GB. DVD-RB seems to keep this file size after the encode, even though I have the CCETargetSectors size set. Just wondering if there is a way to make DVD-RB fill the disc on this type of backup.

Before I get a scolding, I know it's a faux pas to strip prior to running DVD-RB. I'm also aware that the add-on RB-Opt exists, but I was wondering if there was a way to do the above without fooling with Opt. Thanks guys.

Did you uncheck Dynamically Assign Bitrates ? Is the video short (time?)

why would you want to fill? you cant gain any information by simply encoding to a bigger size, what you put in is the best you can put out

Msc_Alex,

You're right I didn't uncheck that, and yes the video is only roughly 80min.

jptheripper,

Since I'm re-encoding to 16:9 and thus losing quality already (like you stated) I would prefer to have the highest bitrate possible to aid in the transition.
