Hi, very new to all this so please be kind to me...

I have an AVI AC3 (Xvid) file and am using DVD2VCD to convert it to DVD. I am using cinema craft.

Everything goes well until the mux programme mplex runs...when during the process the log file says this:

INFO: [???] mplex version 2.0.0 (2.2.3 $Date: 2004/01/13 20:45:26 $)

**ERROR: [???] Can't find next AC3 frame: @ 142205952 we have 0000 - broken bit-stream?

DVD2VCD then continues on and makes the VOB file, but it's the same size as the final mux file, but not the same size as the pulldown file. So I don't get the whole video file on the DVD

I can view the file in virtual dub, but can't hear any sound ant the file plays perfect using Windows Player 10.

any help would be wonderful

Thanks

This is just supposition but perhaps the AC3 file has a bad frame(s)? Especially if this was originally a multi-cd avi - corruption is not uncommon at the join point.

Try running the AC3 through besplit/bespliced and see if it reports any stream errors.

Tanks for you're advice, did run it thru' bespliced and t said there were errors which it fixed, but when I muxed it with the video the sound was out of sink.. oh well back to the drawing board :0

try to run your source ac3 file throught ac3fix (just search on google and you'll find it)

keep it UP

Besplit just deletes the bad frames (=bad sync), but if I recall correctly delaycut will insert silent frames. So maybe try that. AC3fix may do the same, although I thought it didn't.

Thanks for all the help so far,
so heres whats (I think is) happening, at the beginning of the AVI file theres 8sec of silence (Blank Screen) before the audio & video starts, after the audio & video have been muxed (using mplex.exe in DVD2VCD)the sound starts straight away, so we're 8 sec out all thru' the file.

I've still got the encoded audio file & 2 encoded video files (one is a pulldown whatever that is)that DVD2AVI made, so is there a way to delay the audio / cut the blank bit of video from the files? then re mux them using the command string in the dvd2avi log... of course once (if) i've done that I need to convert then to a VOB file...Ahhhhhhhhhhh......I'm off to watch a play....:)

thanks

You can cut or add silence to the start of the audio stream using AC3 Delay Corrector or delaycut :) The problem is getting the correct delay figure.

Doesn't DVD2SVCD have crash recovery? You might be able to just pick up at the muxing stage.

The easiest way to ascertain how much blank audio to add to the start of the AC3 file is to open the .mpv video file in vdubmod. You can then step frame by frame until the first frame of video appears and then note the timecode.

You could then either add this delay to the AC3 file using the tools Matthew mentioned, or cut it from the MPV file using the MPEG Tools section in TMPGEnc.

Then overwrite the relevant file in your project folder with the edited file and crash-recover (Misc. Tab of D2S) from Muxing and Cutting.
