Question about a cd read error

I'm having this problem from time to time, sometimes 1 cd in a hundred. I burn a file from my hdd to cd, an avi file in this case, burn completes and I put it into my cdrom and get alot of errors. I try to take image of the cd media and CloneCD gives alot of read/bad sector errors. When I try to copy the movie to hdd, it gives some read or invalid ms-dos function. The cd media is in god condition, it has no scratches or something like that. Also it's a good quality media. So what's the problem here?

I tried to search forums but couldn't find anything like this. Please help me.

Always verify your media after burning. Takes longer but at least you get a working copy :)

make sure you don't burn too fast. For example, if you try to burn a 2.4x compatible DVD media @ 4x, it will contain errors.

Also it's a good quality media.Are you sure? Just because there's a brand name on the cover doesn't mean it's good quality. Unfortunately, there's almost no real good quality CD media anymore. You have to read the manufacturer code from the CD (many burn programs can show it). If the manufacturer is NOT Tayo Yuden, then everything is possible :D

Brand names like Philips or Sony don't mean a thing on CDRs - read the ATIPs and you'll see that different batches come from different manufacturers even when the cover looks exactly the same. And no, the big companies don't seem to care about crappy quality when they label CDRs with their good name .:rolleyes: (I always wondered why and couldn't come up with an explanation)

Tayo Yuden and Verbatim are the last HQ manufacturers that I know of, Mitsui used to be the third one but they chose to go the cheap way like all the others (at least with their "Golden Dye" series).
Oh, there used to be a fourth good manufacturer, Kodak, but they quit making CDR media years ago (not enough people where willing to spend a lot more money on Kodak Gold than on other CDRs)

btw. Verbatim's manufacturer code is (usually?) not "Verbatim" but something like "Mitsubishi Chemicals", I don't remember exactly.
