Im sure all of you have heard of hidden settings for IC8. Is hidden settings capable of working with dual layer? I tried passion of the christ and it freezes at the layer split. Is the IC8 or hidden settings or both having this problem. I can fast forward through the freeze and all appears ok. I have burned three dvd dl and only one works. The shrek 2 dvd works, made with shrink except for the split there is a white screen for a split second. Passion of the christ only works if fast forward through frozen spot, used dvd decrypter in file mode and IC8,(same results in pc, and 1 out of 2 other stand alones. Terminator 2 could not access 2nd layer? I could play extras and seens of the movie through menu but just wouldnt move on, decrypter and shrink. Is dual layer realy this hard or am I doing wrong.
Sorry for all this in one message, I waited for awhile to post.
Thank you for your time and efforts.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I am not good experienced with Dual Layer disc, but if I red correctly in this forum, I think, at the moment the best result you can get is with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode.
Just rip the DVD with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and then burn it using DVD Decrypter again, I've seen good result using Verbatim media.
Greetings! ;)
For more information, look in the "DVD Burning" section.

I would say castellanos is right. You really shouldnt have to run any of these movies through either shrink OR instant copy. All you need to do is rip the movie (removing macrovision of course) to your HD as an ISO image file, then burn that image to a DL dvd using either nero or decrypter or any other program that can handle DL discs. I have also heard something about bitsetting... You may want to make sure that your dvd burner automatically sets the dvd book code to DVD-Rom or some such thing. Just look up dual layer bitsetting.

Thanks TheSeeker! For once in my life I've said something right!
Anyway, as I said before, I don't have experience with Dual Layer DVDs, but I've heard that Nero add a layer break when DVD Decrypter doesn't... That layer break in Nero happen in file mode and in ISO too? Or it doesn't happen at all?
Greetings! :)

Yes I believe that Nero features something called Layer magic or some thing like that. All it does is look at the size of the dvd to be burned and manually inserts a layer break at the exact middle of the dvd. I have heard good and bad things about this, but as I dont have a dual layer burner i dont know if it hurts or helps. I think the layer magic thing happens no matter if you are burning files or burning an iso. You may be able to disable it, not sure though...
