Frame number display

Hello all,
Can someone point me to *one* simple app that will play a DVD, either one on disk or one on my HD that I've authored, and simply display the frame number as the movie plays?

So far I've used Power DVD and and Media Player Classic, and neither seem to have this capability.

I've never needed this capability from a straight software player, so I've not done any searching in this area. I'll move this request to the Software Players forum, maybe you'll get some hits over there.

If you play a DVD or VOB files from HD you have to put "ffdshow raw video filter" after the Video Decoder.

In the configuration of "ffdshow raw video filter" under "info" you can see the curent frame number.
If you want to watch it with OSD you just need to enable enable "OSD" under "info" in the configuration of "ffdshow raw video filter".

It depends on the player if you can set "ffdhsow raw videio filter" behind the video decode easily....I use ZoomplayerPro where you can do it easily.

You can do that with RadLight (which is free) as well - but unfortunatelly, it doesn't play DVDs yet :rolleyes:

There you are, DAvenger. Your red RadLight 4 interface is the most stunning one I've seen. Pity it does not play DVDs. From its looks, from its version number, and from the current year on the calender one shouldn't be blamed for expecting it would have that capability. As I envisage it, with rapidly falling prices of DVD technology (blanks, burners) no one will bother about mpeg-1 or mpeg-4 any more in very near future (maybe in 2005?). To keep it relevent, DVD capability has to be added to it.

Yes, DVD playback is very important and it's shame it's still missing. We simply had more 'important' stuff to do (to get RL4 into usable state) but you can rest asured that it's really easy to add DVD playback capabilities and this will happen in the next couple of months ;)
