Hi all,
first of all many congratulations for all the softwares involved in this wonderful guide. Of course, without them the whole dvd backup process would be coumbersome.

I have read many posts in the forum, and a lot of guides around (not only on doom9), all of them based on deciding an average bitrate for extras and menus, and then calculating the average bitrate for the main movie when extras and menus have been re-encoded with the just decided bitrate.
As an addition, I can see in the DIF4U log that after the menu and extras ripping and encoding, the program 'guesses' the feasable average bitrate for the movie and then starts the whole process.

My question is: is there a way to do the opposite? I mean, is there a way to first decide the average bitrate of the main movie and then calculate average bitrate for extras and menu?

Thanx for the attention and any reply,
Gemon

Not if you use dif4u, but with reauthorist you can play around a lot ;)

Only usable if RA is capable of handling the title of course.

mmm that is a nice tip, but what if I can't use it?
Anyone feels like feasible to let DIF4U do all the procedure until it calls batchccews, and then make my bitrate desires upon editing batchccews jobs? In this way, I could decide for example an avg. bitrate for the main movie which is higher than the one that DIF4U suggests, of course by lowering avg. bitrate for extras... (menu already being re-encoded by numenu)
Of course, I must come back to the old world of making calculations by hand, but maybe this is a little better...what do you think?

ps: please note that I always have to stop when batchccews is called because I have to check for progressive scan or interlaced sources, as I always deal with PAL DVDs...

thanks for any reply.
