Okay I'm backing up one of my older DVD's and it's scratched so I can't use dvdshrink or dvd decryper to copy the whole DVD to my hard drive. I tried ignore on DVD decrypter but after 2 days it was still plugging away.

Anyway I am lucky enough that the files that I cannot get to are extra features and I don't care about them.

So what I did was have dvd decryptor pull off the VOB files of the movie itself (VTS_02_1.VOB etc). I also pulled off the Video_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_02_0.BUP, and VTS_02_0.IFO files.

So my question is how do I turn these main movie VOB files into a playable DVD obviously just ripping the files to a dvd does not work? Step by step instructions would be most appreciated as I'm new to this stuff.

I attempted to do some searching on the subject but nothing I found seemed to get the job done.

Thanks in advance.

Hi & welcome to the board!

what you are trying to do can be achieved in a number of ways, the easiest is probably to use dvdshrink in "reauthor" mode.

Doom9's main page has a number of dvd backup guides at http://www.doom9.org/?mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm - have a look at the "partial backups" section for various suitable methods.

The dvdshrink guide has a dedicated section exactly for your case - "keep the main movie only" (the link is at the bottom of the page).
