Letterbox laserdisc to anamorphic DVD - denoise before or after resize?

I think the title says it all really...

Normally if making an SVCD/VCD the recommendation is to apply noise filters before resizing, in this case you are making the image smaller.

To convert letterboxed to anamorphic the image will actually be made larger in the vertical direction - so should I still apply noise filters before the resize, or is it recommended to apply afterwards in this case?

It's *better* (IMO) to filter before you apply any resizing.

The reason behind this is simple. You have more detail to filter *accurately*
than you do if you resize to something smaller. reducing will only
add to the reduction of detail. Actualy, resizing (smaller) sorts of
acts like a filter (either a smoother or DNR) anyways. But that depends
on the resizer filter and it's attributes and things (if machanics)

If you apply DNR first, you are getting an more accurate account for
the *dots* hence better results. The problem is, some don't want to wait
for the time involved.

It's a judgement call on your part :)
