welcome to the forum

Thanks:p

In the diskwriter tab coose "output presets" select "Commandline Encoder Vorbis -qx" whatever quality. Click on "edit" and put in the path to your updated ogg encoder (oggenc.exe or oggenc2.exe). change the -q settings to whatever meets your needs

Done, Great! aoTuVb RuLeZ :thanks:

I would suggest AAC 5.1 as it is more stable.

Yes, it could be the best option, some questions about that:

- Could you suggest me a configuration in diskwriter fot AAC? I never work with it before. High Quality VBR

http://kurtnoise.free.fr/misc/fb2k_dts_to_aac.gif

- I´m reading at Roberto's the listening test of the diferent AACs. What is the FB default one? Perhaps I must change it...
- I think for this option that encoding from DTS is better than enconding from AC3, doesn't be?

Thanks magicclue

Here is a good post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74708) to start FAAC 5.1 configuration with fb2k.

The picture show you the default values, optimized for stereo output. If you want to keep the multichannel order, then read my first sentence above. :)

I don't know why DTS decoding is very hard

There is a long time that I am looking for a simple way to decode a DTS to 6 real 32 bit WAV , in mono 48KHz

But the only chance was Hypercube Transcoder

But it can make 16bit wav files.

Isn't there any way yet ?

Maybe ffdshow?

How do I get fb2k to use ffdshows libdts for decoding instead of WinDVD etc?

magicclue

Foobar2000 uses its own decoder!
So no ffdshow or windvd helps!

What you need to do is to set up a graph with graphedit or use a directshow player when ffdshow's decoder is default!

My guides in german, maybe google's translator service or babelfish helps:

I was told fb2k uses windvd's filter to decode then the fb2k dts plugin translates that to wav output. Problem is the channel mapping is all wrong just like windvd's filter is incorrect. That's why I asked to use ffdshow's DTS decoder in fb2k instead.

afaik foobar2000 doesnt use any dshow components at all

the foobar2000 dts plugin (by Case) is based on libdca a.k.a libdts

Only some splitters and encoders messup the channel orders.

This thread has been talking about dts decoding(playing) using foobar2k(& vlc)!:p

is there any way to normalize dts audio in foobar, when it is being or it si to be converted to aac 2 channels?

for all questions concerning foobar2000 please move to the foobar2000 support forum @ hydrogenaudio.org
Foobar2000 Forums (http://forums.foobar2000.org/)

Foobar2000 has a DSP panel. So just put in the filters you need.
Maybe read some manual or FAQ to understand how it's working.

# DTS to Vorbis :

For information, fb2k provides natively a vorbis_enc plugin.
I'm trying to transcode a dts file with foobar2k in ogg 5.1. There is no option in disk writer on output presets about ogg. I have only wav, wav32 and FAAC (cause i'm using foo_faac.dll) So looks like I have to use a oggvorbis.dll or smth pluggin for make the transcodding. Where I can find it or what can I do for?
Thanks in advance!

my apology, I found the plugin foo_vorbisenc.dll to the official foobar2k web page. I use v0.8.3 special. I made many tests with aac, He aac, ogg (all of them 5.1) . I'm trying to transcode a dts file into anotherone format 5.1(with foobar2k). The resulting file, any would be..I want to keeps the original 5.1 channels in the same order and to have a quality almost the same like the original dts original file. Which is the wright choice?
Unfortunately I don't have a 5.1 sound card, so I listen to my headphones :D. I prepare the files as if I'd be deaf....for be listened on another computer with a good soundcard 5.1 and 5.1 speakers
At the headphones, in my opinion (my sound card is very bad, ac97 onboard....)dts is maximum quality, then ogg, and the last place is aac and HE aac. I don't figure any difference between aac and HE aac...maybe I'm wrong...anyway I saw in your tutorial (very good tutorial) the way how to convert a dts into aac, he-aac, ogg. Which one do you recomend?
Thanks!

Kurtnoise

@sigma : try he-aac around 128 kbps....

I'm not hijacking!
thread name is 'a new free way to transcode dts files'
BeHappy / MeGUI is FREE and really NEW
So rename it to "transcoding dts file via foobar2000" if You want to avoid such posts

I don't figure any difference between aac and HE aac...
A very impressive thread to me. I started this forum posting here around 11 month ago...

Foobar2k 0.83 supports another way of nero AAC encoding, which iirc, supports forced VBR HE quality grade.
(You can use it in cli mode with foobar 2k. I can confirm it supports the forced quality grade for VBR HE in this mode)
http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/files/naac.zip requires two nero files as mentioned in the 1st post , together in the program folder.

Also an useful remind is that Nero released a new v6.6.1.4 of V6(independant to V7) to update if you have V6 installed.
The required DLLs in the package does not seem to require the mfc71.dll (unlike v7 shrinked, messup-channel(aac.dll) dlls).

The streaming quality VBR HE was OK to me (most economic with decent quality) @ around 64k(stereo) * 2.5(5.1ch multiplier) = 160k.
The actual sampling rate varies around 100~220k depending on the stream complexity, which is why vbr is most efficient.

But if you want the 'transcoding quality', I suggest VBR LC 'transcoding quality', around the half the size of the DTS.

Most of this information is already in the Audio-FAQ sticky thread.
[edit] forced sampling rate-> forced quality grade

There is not foo_dts plugin working with 0.9 right ?

All this should be done with 0.8.3 right ?

Right...

There is an ac3 plugin (http://kode54.foobar2000.org/) for v0.9 but no dts plugin yet. So, yes all things described earlier should be done with 0.8.3.

I would like to use the new He AAC encoder from nero to encode with foobar 2000 my .dts files in 5.1 mp4...this exists in command line version (neroAacEnc.exe, build date 1 may 2006).but i haven't succeed to encode....
The old version is foo_nero.dll, I'm looking for the new version in same .dll format, or some advice for how can I encode a dts file into mp4 file(5.1) using this new version.
Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm using foobar 2000 v0.8.3 but i can change it to v0.9 if need.......

Kurtnoise

There is no dts plugin for v 0.9.xx yet. So, to transcode dts to m4a with this encoder, you need the v 0.8.3.

1. check out foo_dts and the special version. Then go to Foobar2000 --> Preferences --> Diskwriter and click on "Add New" in Output presets.

2. Choose "Command Line Encoder" from the drop down list and valid by ok.

3. Use these settings :

http://kurtnoise.free.fr/fb2k_dts2m4a.gif

4. Click again on Ok and Save All. At last, a right click on the playlist and then Convert --> Run Conversion. This should work.

ok, I'm using foobar 2000 v 0.8.3.
I did exactly what u told me with exact same parameters:
result:

INFO (CORE) : startup time: 260 ms
INFO (foo_clienc) : CLI encoder: S:\Audio\neroAacEnc_sse2.exe
INFO (foo_clienc) : Destination file: file://C:\001 d.m4a
INFO (foo_clienc) : Source file: file://C:\d.dts
INFO (foo_clienc) : 44100Hz 32bps 6ch
ERROR (foo_clienc) : Writing to encoder failed
ERROR (foo_clienc) : Encoding failed
ERROR (foo_diskwriter) : Conversion failed.

The same .dts file I encode succesfully ogg 5.1 (foo_vorbisenc.dll) or HEAAC (foo_nero.dll) without problems.

Try to use neroAacEnc.exe instead neroAacEnc_sse2.exe and try with this parameters for example

-br 112000 -if - -of %d

I'm using old foobar 2000 v.0.8.3 and I want to make a rip from a normal cd audio to hard drive using nero digital audio. I've already found last version (12 feb 2007). With command line encoder everything is fine, but I didn't find yet somewhere some settings...
I use to rip a cd audio Kurtnoise13's settings :|

-ignorelenght -q 0.55 -if - -of %d
ND VBR q=0.5

I would like to know how to change parameters to get different results: " Nero Digital Audio Reference Quality MPEG-4 & 3GPP Audio Codec

* Compression Ratios ranging from ultra high (58 CDs fit on one!) to High-End Audio (2.5:1), for absolutely perfect audiophile encodings ".......so with another words, where to cheange and what????
I'll appreciate a link or something with some tutorial.
Thanks in advance!

I've found here (http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/ND_Audio_Tutorials.html) tutorials Thanks!

needfulthings web seems out.
You can try this foo_input_dts (http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/foobar2000/foo_input_dts.zip) for Foobar2000 v0.9
