Need good software to capture images from DV

Hi,
I have used DVgate to capture images from DV camera. It works fine but the resolution is too small 640x480. I need another software to capture crisp and clean pictures with better resolution. Any recommendations?

Based on the resulting size of your captured images (648x480), I assume your DV images are NTSC. The resolution of NTSC DV video is 720x480, but the pixels are not square, as required on a PC monitor. DV has a Display Aspect Ratio (DAR) of 4:3, or in some cases, 16:9.

To correct the shape to match a standard TV (or PC monitor), the images must be resized to 4:3 -- in square pixels, that usually means 640x480, which keeps the vertical resolution unchanged.

But DV video is interlaced -- which may be why the image doesn't look "crisp" to you. Deinterlacing blends or interpolates to produce a progressive image without artifacts. I suppose you could take the 720x480 resolution and resize to 720x540, which would keep the horizontal resolution unchanged, and resize the vertical to get 4:3. But since resizing above 100% it doesn't add additional image information, it's certainly not a common methodology.
