dear all
I recently doanloaded a movie from a chinese website which is in
RMVB format, the movie file itself is about 320 mb, what really surprised me is the quality it provides. even played on my 17' monitor
in full screen mode, it looked nice, while I have a same movie in
divx format(avi), and its about 680mb, I don't see much difference.
I do believe RMVB has some advantages on video compressing.
anyone can share some knowledge on this? is it hard to encode an RMVB
format movie?

Please re-read our rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm).

This post is a essentially a complete duplicate of http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84903 -- a cross post, in violation of Rule 8. This thread will be closed, all followups can go there. You were already told about Rule 1 in *that* thread, pointing you to RV encoding information.Since you mention downloaded content, that certainly skirts along the edge of Rule 6. For more on Rule 6, see this announcement (http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?s=&forumid=6) from the Newbie forum. You must have missed it.

Lastly, if you go to Doom9's website (www.doom9.org), and click on The Basics, you will find detailed codec comparisons, including both DivX and RV.

Enough said.
