Hiya,
I am new to all this so bear with me (I will try and keep this short).
Having downloaded a couple of AVI movie files which play in Windows Media player (although I think I had to install codecs on my computer), I copied them to Nashua 80 min 700 Meg disks and tried to play them in my dvd player (which plays vcd). They did not work, so tried it in my girlfriends. Same thing.
Put the disks in to the pc and select "play vcd" within windows media player and off it goes - no problems.
The file structure looks like a vcd from what I can see.
All I can think is that I am using the wrong type of media to copy onto.
I used TMPGEnc to convert from the AVI files into MPEG2 and used Nero to burn the cd and chose the "Finalise cd" option.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A bit of info on the AVI files.
I used GSpot to find the following data on the file.
First one is XVID 700mb
Video
CODEC
4cc- XVID Name - Xvid
Bitrate - 830 kb/s FPS:25.000 Qf:0.222 bits/pixel
In comments/Metadata
Code - JUNK,NAME - (ASCII in junk chunk), contents - Virtual DUB
Code - Junk, Name - (ASCII in Junk Chunk), contents - MPEG2 build 18250
Code - Junk, Name - (ASCII in Junk Chunk), contents - Release
Stream type and A/V Interleave
Type - Open DMI AVL
IMRR - 1.0
I/L 1 vid frame (40ms)Split:yes
Audio
Codec - 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
NAME - WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3(MP3)
Bitrate - 96 kb/s (48/ch, stereo) CBR
FS - 44100 Hz
The following codec should be capable of processing this format:
Codec Fraunhoffer IIS MPEG - Layer-3 Codec advanced
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I am sure all above is pretty useless info and I am just doing something wrong.
I am using a Toshiba combi cd/dvd drive.
Has anyone any suggestions as I have tried burning at slow speed used the TMPGEnc and Nero like most forums suggest.
My friend is even trying to put them onto a dvd so I can watch them and he is having no luck either.
