Xvid .avi vs Xvid .ogm

I personally encode with xvid useing .ogg as audio choice. My .ogm files play perfectly, however if I take the same file , video only and add .mp3 audio the file stutters on playback. Same video different audio, any ideas why???

If i understand correctly, your problem is with an .ogm xvid+mp3 (vbr i guess). Hmmm... probably .ogm is not much tuned for mp3 as for ogg (that's not a surprise), or it's simply a muxing issue..

What do you use to create your ogm's?

The difference is just the container. .avi vs .ogm
The video is encoded with vdub or vdubmod, the audio be it .ogg or .mp3 I use either cooledit or besweet. muxed with mp3 i use vdub the ogg i use either vdubmod or oggmuxer. Just seems strange

You could try a matroska container (mkv), and that might solve your problems. Also pay attention to whether or not the audio is interleaved. It won't affect playback from, say, a hard disk, but if you're playing the file off a CD/DVD you'll want the audio to be interleaved.
