Hi all,
I have to choose between a hardware encoding and a software encoding capture card. I have a centrino 1.4 ghz laptop with 512 of ram and a 7200 rpm HDD with which to capture (via USB 2.0) and I would primarily use it to record to HDD and sometimes stream live via windows media or real video encoders. My question is, could a hardware encoding card with straight to MPEG-2 on the fly encoding, be used for video streaming as well? Would the encoder software (Windows Media or Real) be happy with it or does it require a software encoding card.
Last but not least, I wouldn't mind any recommendation on USB 2.0 cards and general pro/cons of software vs hardware cards with the setup above
