Im working with Vegas and i got material in PAL. Project settings are PAL. Now i must use some clip that is in NTSC format.

In what ways will this be a problem?

- Height isnt the same, but letterboxing will be eanbled i belive.
- Framerate isnt the same i know.

Anyone know basicly what will happen? Will render as PAL interlaced for DVD. Will the interlaceing be so bad that the NTSC parts will really look bad? Any ideas on this?

you have to decide to one telecision standard for editing.

the opposite standard has to be converted before editing, then.

so, if you intend to edit as PAL, you have to convert your NTSC footage to PAL, using one of the various AVIsynth-scripts being here in the forums

Wonder how Vegas really does, becouse the material to SVCD looks good ... when use both standards and render to PAL

I just try, the scripts i tested to convert to PAL really didnt look any good.

Yes the height is different, but the finally aspect ratio will be the same. For example:
PAL 720X576 -> 640X480 (640X464)
NTSC 720X480 -> 640X480 (640X464)

*If the footage is interlaced the height divided by 2 (and frame rate is X2 when the size of the frame is still same) - more info: 100fps.com.

Try to add the NTSC to your PAL project, I believe Vegas will convert it to PAL automatically.
If not, scharfis_brain's suggestion would be the best.

I have tested adding the files to my PAL project and vegas looks like it handles it good. Im just affraid it will look bad on a tv or projector.

but i can only try and see.
