Is there a particular resource -- perhaps a book, that provides a consolidated explanation of the DVD format, catering to both a beginning level of knowledge as well as advanced (including a complete technical reference).
I find myself wasting a *tremendous* amount of time by learning on a mostly trial-and-error basis; e.g., I'll make a small change in a PGC menu command, then play it back to see its effect, repeat, etc. I've managed to accumulate bits and pieces of useful information from the forums here, but in my experience, a Internet forums are usually best for solving *specific* issues, not providing one's foundation of knowledge. I've reached the point where I really need to find a good, solid overview of all the intricacies of editing and authoring DVD compliant videos.
Does any here have any good book recommendations? If online, preferably something that can be printed out and read offline. I find that it can take hours trying to navigate many web sites which divert you to 99999 links for every topic. I know this audience has got to have *some* pointers. :-)
My interest in DVD authoring is for personal, not commercial interest, thus I have little time to devote. My problem is that I have to *understand* everything I do; it's not simply OK because it "works" unless I know *why*.
