Im trying to burn an image file using DVD Decrypter but at the bottom it says "device not ready (medium not present)". It's reading the source fine and my Phillips DVD+RW is selected as destination. I also have a fully compatible Memorex DVD-R loaded in the drive. If I knew how to post a screenshot, I would, but I think this is enough info for this question. I've tried using Nero before and it has no problem recognizing the drive, but it was the demo and not very good, and DVD decrypter seem so much simpler and easier, so Id like to use it. It v 3.2.1.0
system:
-Microsoft Win XP Media Center SP1
-3.00 GHz Pentium 4-HD, 2x180GB hd, 1GB ddr-ram

It's nothing to do with the program, you've just got disc that your drive doesn't support.

Specifically, you said you have a DVD+RW drive (normal for Phillips I guess) and yet have bought DVD-R media.

So either your burner cannot burn -R discs at all, or it just doesn't like that particular brand.

Try getting some decent DVD+R discs (RICOHJPN dye perhaps?) and then let us know how you get on with those.

But Nero recognized the disk okay. What do you think? It is a DVD+RW, but I burn CD-Rs no prob, and if the Nero thing was a fluke, why would it burn CDRS but not DVD-Rs? I thought it was just a matter of whether or not the disk could be rewritten. Please clue me in.

Load DVD Decrypter (which should be version 3.5.1.0) and ensure there is no disc in the drive.

Put it in ISO Write mode and then put that blank disc back in.

In the status bar, you should see 'Device Not Ready (Logical unit in process of becoming ready)'.

After a while, either the drive will finish initialising the disc ok and report that it is 'Ready' or it'll once again complain about having no medium present.

Like I said earlier, a DVD+RW drive cannot burn DVD-R / DVD-RW media.
Only a DVD-RW drive or dual format DVD+-RW drive can burn DVD-R media.
