Hi - I have a problem in that my children have a tendency to wreck discs by shoving them into the drive of our Playstation2. What Iwould like to do is to take a copy of a disc I have bought onto a DVD-r/-rw (a legitimate use I think) in case I may need to use it.
Can this be done?

hi bodonline,
taken from a post by ammck55:We like to stick to digital video issues here at Doom9's forum--encoding, authoring, and related topics for the most part. Run a Google search on "PS2", you'll find plenty of information to work with.
unless i have misunderstood and you are asking to back-up your DVD movie discs to be playable on a PS2, i which case i suggest you start by reading the DVD backup guides (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm)
in particular: DVD Shrink 3.1 guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm) would be a good place to start.

Thanks for your help - guess I will just need to educate the kids about shutting drawer before the disk is seated properly!

For as long as I've been around the Doom9 forum, we've tried to steer clear of PS2 issues; gaming forums are really a better source for this kind of info. Until there's a public shift in policy, we'll continue to do so.
