Using Mpeg-2 Codec From Leadtek with VDubSync

I'm sorry if this has been posted before but is there any way to use the mpeg-2 codec that came with the Leadtek Winfast XP deluxe Tv Capture card I have? I use VirtualDub Sync for my captures and the main use for capturing is to use my computer as a VCR (since I don't have one). The Leadtek Drivers don't install and the PVR software doesn't work on my system. I think the Mpeg-2 file that is included in the software is a .dll file. Or is there another Mpeg-2 codec I can try instead? Sorry again if this has been posted before. Thanks

P.S. I've tried capturing to mpeg-4 but have had trouble with async audio so I thought mpeg-2 would be better.

I suprised to hear that the drivers will not install for you. I've installed this card on a Win98se machine and a Win2k.

The WinFast encoder is an MJPEG encoder, I believe. According to GSpot
it is WFMVE.ax. I guess that this is an ActiveX module. I further
suppose that any VirtualDub compilation would necessarily need to be able to have an ActiveX interface in order to be able to use this encoder.

Perhaps a programmer could confirm/disabuse this notion?

The reason they don't install for me has to do with DirectX 9.0c I think. I emailed Leadtek and they said to uninstall DirectX 9 and then try installing...but that didn't work either. My card did work on my family's computer back at home, but the Leadtek drivers don't work on my machine.

I see. I had problems with the WinFast PVR under 9.0c, so I uninstalled 9.0c using DirectX Buster (http://www.dxbuster.de/index_e.html#hints) .

This doesn't work for everyone it seems :(
