Nero Recode not installing

Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry if it isn't. My mate and I have both bought a sony dual layer dvd burner and have both installed the Nero software that came with it and he doesn't get nero recode installed (there is no sign of it in smart start or anywhere else)I on the other hand have got it installed. does anyone know why it wouldn't be installing on his computer?
His burner is connected using a usb external box if that is an issue.

hi muppet and welcome to the forum,

there could be a number of reasons for this. although you have both purchased the same (similar ?) drives, the bundled software can vary between models, oem or retail versions, etc.

i suggest your friend contacts his reseller and/or checks on the nero website (http://www.nero.com/en/index.html) for any further information regarding the bundled software and lack of nero recode.
